Even if I was a 12 year old that needed my characters to all be scantily clad and hide behind "the artist's true vision" as my reason for not wanting it changed, I'd rather an actual bikini or something. I wouldn't want to see anyone wearing that. I agree that the outfit is offensive, but not because of the girl's age. US is the only place this becomes an issue, and it really has no reason to be. I looked at GameFAQs and people were arguing that she was still below the age of consent, which just left me in awe as to how the hell that is even important in regards to wearing clothes.
People need to stop treating it like she's an actual girl and that the game was exploiting an innocent.įor what it is worth, I wasn't trying to attack you. They can make her 35 and replace the outfit with an overcoat (hell, I spent a good deal of time screaming at people who were saying they'd boycott this if they changed her age/removed the costume and people planning to boycott the US release of Fatal Frame if they remove the bikinis because seriously- who the hell cares about this stuff?). I want to be perfectly clear- I don't give a shit. It's just a terrible costume in general, not even sexual.īut let's be more real - it's not like she's real, or actually 12 or looks 12.Īnd more importantly, why is this only an issue when it is a girl? What difference does it make that she's a "female" and has to wear slightly more clothing? Why is this never brought up if a male can wear the outfit? After seeing it, I'd say remove it not because it's offensive, but because it just looks stupid. Just knew that it was a 'bikini' and wearable by -everyone. Gonna be honest, I hadn't seen the outfit before like that. I can't imagine bumping their ages, so I wonder if they'll leave them or change them.
Yuuri & Miu both have bikini costumes, though they are older than Lin Lee (19 & 17 respectively) and the one girl during the Treehouse playthrough confirmed costumes were still there and that they were cool. That said, I'm curious if they're going to do something with Fatal Frame too. If there was a 12 year old boy in underwear, though, I'm positive nobody would've said anything. It's not even like she looks 12, or is a real person for this to even matter in the first place, but you know. People pretend that girls (specifically) are not allowed to be seen in something like a two piece bathing suit until they're older.Įven if people didn't fuss, Nintendo would've changed it in preparation for potential fuss, because a 12 year old girl in less clothes is magically "pornography" to everyone in North America and not just a thing that happens in life.
